The Pistol/Urban Rifle course is NOT a basic course. it is expected that students will have graduated from a basic defensive pistol course from a reputable school/academy and be fully familiar with their rifle. A beginning student may find themselves in the uncomfortable position of being expected to know things that they do not. You are encouraged to contact the Degrata Tactical Training Division at 1-877-433-4728 or training@degrata.com to be sure that you meet the prior requirements. The cost of this course is $555.
We will accept most medium and heavy, autoloading, military rifles in 7.62x51 (308), 7.62x39 (30 Soviet), M1 Carbine, 30-06, or 5.56x45 (223) caliber. Pistol-cartridge-firing carbines, such as the Beretta CX4, are also acceptable. We will not accept rimfire rifles. Bolt guns, lever actions, and other, low-capacity, sporting rifles are not recommended. Slings are mandatory, as we will be running a hot range. High-magnification, high profile, close-eye-relief scopes are not suitable for our purposes. Good, iron sights are recommended. |

Low-power, low-profile, forward-mounted scopes, are acceptable and are also recommended, along with EOTech and Aimpoint sighting systems. The best rifle to bring is a military autoloader. Students should be advised that their rifles will see some strenuous, rugged use and may get scratched up a bit. Pretty guns are best left at home.
You will need 400 rounds of pistol ammunition, as well as 300 rounds of rifle ammunition. We specifically do NOT recommend any ammunition manufactured by Norinco, Sellior & Bellot, or Wolf.
The course will be outdoors and will entail some physical activity, so you will need to dress appropriately (long pants, long-sleeve shirt, sturdy shoes). You may get dirty, so wear something heavy-duty but inexpensive. Don't show up in sweat pants or shorts. Bring along an old sports coat or jacket, so that you will able to draw handguns from concealment. An exception is made for police officers who want to work out of their uniform, duty gear.
All students must bring their own safety equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and a baseball cap. Finally, you will need a gun case or box, so that you can safely carry your rifle on and off the range.
Your handguns may be carried onto and off the range in a holster (concealed, unless you're in uniform) or in a gun rug or box. All longarms must be carried on and off the range in cases.
DeSmet South Dakota is the nearest town, to the range location, that has hotel/restaurant accomodations. DeSmet is approximately 12 miles from the range. Specific information is available upon request.
